About this event

FREE Work Group aimed at Primary and Secondary schools where a teacher from each phase (Yr 5 - Yr 8) will work together.

The Work Group participants will gain knowledge, understanding and experience of the curriculum at KS2 and KS3 and a clear understanding of what pupils leaving KS2 are expected/able to do at all levels of attainment. This will include understanding of the representations and structures used in both Key Stages and how these support the development of conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning.

The aim of the Work Group is that teachers will develop shared approaches to planning and delivery of the mathematics curriculum at KS2/KS3 and will disseminate their work across their schools. Plus provide a consistent use of resources and representation (especially for children working below ARE at the end of KS2) to give them the best chance of making good progress as they move from KS2 to KS3

The Work Group comprises 4 sessions plus intersessional tasks.

You are also welcome to join this group as a single / non linked Primary or Secondary school for continuity of pedagogy, resources and representations across KS2/3.

Although this Work Group is online, it is offered to State-funded schools in the North-East Hants and Surrey Maths Hub Region.

Please Note: It is now a DfE requirement to provide your TRN when registering for this work group - if you need to locate this, please go to : https://www.gov.uk/guidance/individual-teacher-records-information-for-teachers

All registrants will be required to join an NCETM Basecamp online community for this Work Group in order to access resources and information. Please ensure you tick the box to confirm this when you register.

Once registered, we will be in touch with details of how to access the first online session via Zoom.
